I was once again astound at what I have found in Genesis

בראשית ברא אלוהים את השמים ואת הארץ – Genesis 1:1

Doesn’t look like much really?! But wait, Genesis 1:1 in Hebrew (as above) consists of 7(seven) Hebrew words which constitutes the TOTAL fullness and the completeness of God’s creation! WOW! He is most assuredly a God of utmost detail.

Now, as many of you who know me, I love delving deeper (and I mean deep!) into the word of God, hence my immense gravitation towards Hebrew words and their meaning in its original context.

What really excites me about these Hebrew words is how every time I am stunned by the great impact and powerful revelations these Hebrew meanings bring. For me, It started to unfold the word of God in magnificent ways.

Okay, let’s quickly backtrack where we begun at the beginning, Genesis…

I would like to share 4 distinct Hebrew words which the Bible uses to describe the creation process. This will give us a better understanding of the awesome word of God.

Let me first share with you the first one – ASAH

ASAH - the meaning of the verb is to construct, work, bring forth and build. The essence of this word is about the activity that has a distinct purpose in mind. Interestingly, what this word also embodies is to create from an existing material.

If you put this word in its context in the verse I will show, you will be amazed.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make (asah) man in our image, according to Our likeness.

Allow me to bring this verse to life with the meaning of the Hebrew words

Then God said ‘ Let us create and bring forth man from us, our existing image and according to our existing likeness in order for the purpose of them to have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.

HOW AWESOME!! If you were ever in doubt about your identity – this is fantastic news to you! You are created from the very fabric of God!

Be sure to follow the next three blog post of the remaining Hebrew words
